The Commonwealth Education Trust is a UK-based charity whose purpose is to advance education across the Commonwealth. Established in 2007, the CET is the successor trust to the Commonwealth Institute. The CI was itself the successor trust to the Imperial Institute that had its origins in a fund raised in 1886 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee.

We reach the areas with the lowest levels of quality provision with a core focus on The CET reaches areas with some of the lowest levels of quality provision with a core focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Its primary focus is on supporting teacher development aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.​

The Commonwealth Education Trust’s Teach2030 initiative is a sustainable professional development model to enable teachers to be ‘always learning’. It brings training to the teachers, using low-cost technology combined with locally facilitated delivery through CET-accredited partners. This is a high-quality and cost-effective way of helping teachers to develop their practice to be student-centred while also developing their digital skills.
