What are the main targets of SDG 4?
There are 10 targets within the UN’s goal to see quality education available worldwide by 2030. They include:
- Ensure that all girls and boys complete free, quality primary and secondary education
- That all children have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education
- Equal access for all to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education
- Increase the number of youth and adults with work skills, including Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)
- Eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to education and training for the vulnerable
- That all youth and a substantial proportion of men and women achieve literacy and numeracy
- That all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development
Goal 4 also includes targets for building and upgrading schools, expanding scholarships, particularly in developing countries and increasing the supply of qualified teachers in developing countries.
