These free online digital literacy courses on Alison have been created by Helen Crompton PhD, an international expert in educational technology, on behalf of the Mobiles for Education (mEducation) Alliance. Dr Crompton is listed in Stanford University’s top two percent of scientists in the world and has been recognised as one of the top nine experts on mobile learning by the United Nations. She is Associate Professor of Instructional Technology at Old Dominion University, Virginia, in the USA and director of the Technology Enhanced Learning Lab (TELL). Dr Crompton is also a member of mEducation, which was formed in 2010 by a group of organisations united in their ambition to improve educational outcomes through technology, particularly in developing countries. It is now a world leader in empowering communities through teaching digital literacy.
A professional team with decades of experience in the education technology and international development field supports the work of the Alliance. Alongside the team, 44 member organisations, including multilateral agencies, private sector companies, and ministries of education, contribute to the knowledge sharing and promotion of best EdTech practices. Alliance members include the British Council, USAID, African Union, Save the Children, World Vision, World Bank, and UNICEF.
