Alison Rolls Out Home-Screen App Widget, Making Daily Learning Habits Easier to Build

Friday, 5th December 2025

GALWAY, IRELAND – 2025-12-02

Alison has introduced a new home-screen widget for its Android App, giving Learners a quick view of their current course. The widget displays the course title and a progress percentage right on their mobile phone’s home screen, so that Learners can see how far they’ve come without opening the Alison App. Launched globally in November, the widget helps Alison stay visible on busy home screens and keeps learning top of mind. By making it easier for Learners to track their progress at a glance, the feature aims to encourage more consistent study habits and support higher course completion rates.

New Home Screen Widget to Support Continuous Learning

The new home screen widget is an enhancement to the existing Alison App, which already gives Learners free access to thousands of CPD-accredited online Certificate and Diploma courses. This new feature offers a fresh way for both new and existing Android users to stay engaged with their learning.

The widget places a compact learning snapshot directly on the user’s home screen, displaying:

  • The title of the Learner’s current course in progress

  • A real-time completion percentage

  • One-tap access back into the course within the Alison App

Available to Android users who install or update the latest version of the App through Google Play, this feature is particularly valuable for Learners who benefit from a simple, always-visible reminder of their study goals, as well as busy adults who learn in short bursts between work, family, and other responsibilities. By reducing friction and surfacing progress at a glance, the widget aims to strengthen regular learning habits.

Alison’s mission is to make education accessible and empowering for everyone. Small design enhancements, such as showing progress on the home screen, can meaningfully influence whether someone builds a lasting learning habit. This widget is another way the platform helps Learners stay committed to their courses, build skills, and move closer to the futures they want.

Strengthening Mobile Learning

The Alison App widget sits alongside the broader Alison mobile experience, which includes Offline Learning, Study Reminders, and a Learner Dashboard that helps people track their completed courses, courses in progress, and purchased Certificates. Together, these tools support Alison’s mission to break down barriers to learning by making free online education more accessible and sustainable on any schedule.

As Alison continues to expand its catalogue of over 6,000 free online courses and to grow its suite of career tools and assessments, the Alison App and its widget remain central touchpoints for Learners who want to study on the go. The widget underscores Alison’s commitment to helping people worldwide not only start, but also complete their learning journeys.
