What qualifications do I need?
Competition for entry-level jobs can be fierce so it helps to have a few certificates on your CV. If you can’t afford to go to an established hotel school or there isn’t one in your region, then Alison is the solution. Studying as many courses as you can will show prospective employers that you take your career seriously and that you have the passion to make something of yourself in hospitality and tourism.
Are hospitality and tourism good industries to enter?
Absolutely, especially if you understand that hours may long, you may have to work on days like Christmas and New Year, and you may be posted far away from your family or home city. In return, you could meet people from around the world, learn how things are done in other countries and travel the globe! It helps if you genuinely enjoy working with people and solving problems for guests. Experienced workers are always in demand and, once you want to retire, you could work as a relief manager, coming in when the full-time manager of a department is on leave.
Can I get paid while I learn?
At Alison, you can. If you find a course you love and get others to enrol in it, we could pay you as part of our affiliates programme. Please see this link for more information on this simple process.
