The SQL 2014 Developer : VS 2012 and Data Types course is the second course in a three-course series on SQL 2014 Developer. This series of courses is a comprehensive series covering all the intermediate to advanced level topics of SQL Server 2014. The topics covered in part 2 of this series are related to Visual Studio 2012 and focuses on the data types available in SQL Server 2014. The course covers the related sub-topics in great detail and enables the students to implement the gained knowledge in their everyday tasks. This course explores the integration of Visual Studio Code and SQL Server to help developers writing queries efficiently. Developers can use a single query editor tool for writing codes in multiple languages. It eliminates the headache of using a separate editor for each language. It supports IntelliSense, SQL CMD mode, linting, Peek definition features to give you a better development experience.

The course begins by introducing you to Aggregates and User-defined Types. You will learn about the built-in aggregate functions provided in Transact-SQL that perform a calculation on a set of values and return a single value. The course also explores the different data tools in SQL as well as a show to connect and update a database. Using SSDT, you can create an offline database project and implement schema changes. You will learn how to add, modify, or delete the definitions of objects in your project without a connection to a server instance. You will also learn about the APPLY and MERGE statement in SQL.
