This free online Introduction to Performance Measurement course will begin with a performance measurement definition as a process or an activity which involves the quantification of the results of actions and their comparison to predefined goals. The system that supports the performance measurement process is called a performance measurement system. Next we will learn how to measure performance in terms of behavior and standards.

Next we will learn different approaches to performance which include behavior, result, and trait approach. There are different ways through which we can collect data; observations, interviews, and rating skills. Next we will discuss self appraisal as it gives employees a better understanding and insight to their own performance and at the same time empowers them to take responsibility for their own career development.

Finally we will learn how to maintain good communication, build positive working relationships, acknowledge good work. Next we will cover the 360 degree appraisal. It is a type of employee performance review in which subordinates, co-workers, and managers all anonymously rate the employee. This information is then incorporated into that person's performance review.
