Course Information

Learn how students think, process, and learn and help every child grow at their own cognitive pace in this free course.

Every child can learn, but not every child learns in the same way. This course equips teachers with the insight and strategies to identify, understand, and respond to hidden barriers that affect how students sense, think, remember, and apply what they learn. Learners will explore how information travels through four stages - input, processing, storage, and output - and what happens when one or more of these stages become inefficient or blocked.

Teachers will learn to define and distinguish Cognitive Processing Issues (CPIs) into three main types: acquired, genetic, and developmental. They will understand how each type affects learning and behaviour in unique ways, and how to identify early warning signs such as distraction, forgetfulness, or slow problem-solving. By recognising these red and green classroom flags, teachers can interpret student behaviours more accurately and support the right intervention at the right time.

The course introduces brain-informed teaching focuses such as rehabilitation for acquired CPIs, structure and predictability for genetic CPIs, and reactivation or empowerment for developed CPIs. Participants will also learn to design classroom routines and play-based interventions, including cognitive games that strengthen attention, memory, and problem-solving while preventing overload or frustration. By the end of this course, teachers will not only understand how the brain learns but will also be able to see learning differently, unlocking the hidden potential in every student.
