Adding or changing your profile picture is an easy process and can be done in a few steps. I access Alison via my computer: Login to your Alison account and go to your Dashboard . Click on your profile photo icon and select Change Photo as shown in the screenshot below. Find the image you want to use as your profile picture and select Open . The image will be automatically updated in your Profile. I access Alison via my Mobile Browser: Login to your Alison account and select your Profile . I have more than one Alison account, how do I merge them?

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to merge two accounts. We can delete one of your Alison accounts, but it’s important to note that if you choose to delete an account, any learning or achievements linked to it will be permanently deleted. Alternatively, you can choose to keep both accounts and continue using them both.

What Is the Leaderboard?

The Alison Leaderboard is a fun and interactive feature that turns learning into a friendly competition! It ranks learners based on their XP (Experience Points) , making your learning journey more engaging and motivating. Anyone who earns XP is automatically included in the leaderboard. The more XP you gain by completing topics, courses, assessments, and other learning activities, the higher you’ll climb. Key features of the Leaderboard: It’s XP-based only—the more you learn, the more XP you earn, and the higher your rank. You can filter the leaderboard by country to see how you rank in your region. The leaderboard is divided into 15 levels . Everyone starts at Level 1 , and as you accumulate XP, you advance through the levels—top learners reach Level 15 . It updates in real time —as soon as you earn XP, your position will update. You can also view other learners’ profiles by clicking their names on the leaderboard. Just note that only public profiles are visible. To make your profile discoverable—whether for networking or to attract potential recruiters—make sure your profile visibility is set to public .

What is XP and How Does It Work on Alison?

XP, or Experience Points, is a feature on Alison that tracks your learning journey and reflects your progress and engagement on the platform. It’s a fun and motivating way to see how far you’ve come and celebrate your dedication. You can earn XP by: Completing courses Finishing final assessments Claiming your certificates Participating in other learning activities on Alison The more active you are, the more XP you’ll gain! You can view your total XP by clicking on your profile icon at the top of the screen. To see how your XP is growing over time, head to your Achievements page. When you're in learning mode, you can activate a 2x XP boost , which doubles the XP you earn for a limited time. You can unlock this bonus once per day to supercharge your progress—there’s no cap on how much XP you can earn daily, so feel free to learn at your own pace. Think of your XP as a collection of your best learning moments—each point a little badge of achievement. And don’t worry if you take a break—your XP will always be there, ready to pick up where you left off.

What Are Streaks on Alison?

A streak is the number of consecutive days you've been actively learning on Alison. It’s a simple yet powerful way to track your consistency and commitment across all courses. To keep your streak going, just complete one topic in any Alison course each day. That’s it! Once you've completed a topic, it counts for that day—no need to do more to maintain the streak. You can check your streak on your Dashboard . Here’s how streaks work: Your streak starts at zero and increases by one each day you complete a course topic. If you skip a day without completing a topic, your streak resets to zero . If you miss a day, your streak resets to zero. However, if you've built up a streak of at least 3 days , you’ll have one free streak protection available. This means if you miss a day, your streak won’t break immediately—you’ll have a chance to keep it going. But if you miss two days in a row , the streak will break, even with protection. Streaks are updated overnight , so if you finish a topic today, you’ll see the +1 update reflected the next day. Your streak is private by default, but it's a great milestone to celebrate! You can choose to share your learning streak with others from your Dashboard if you’d like to show off your progress.

How Can I Turn Off Gamification on Alison?

We understand that not everyone learns the same way. If you prefer a more traditional learning experience without gamification elements like XP, leaderboards, and streaks, you can easily turn these features off. You can disable it in your Account Settings by toggling off the Gamification option. What changes when gamification is turned off? The Achievements Page and Leaderboard will no longer be visible. You won’t see Total XP or Learning Streak widgets on your dashboard. The XP counter will disappear from your profile dropdown. Your XP will no longer accumulate in the background. You can switch gamification back on anytime if you change your mind!

How do I delete my Alison Account?

It’s important to know that if you delete your Alison account, all information linked to it will be permanently deleted. This includes your study progress and the orders you've placed. Please note that once your account is deleted, it is not possible to recover any data from it. If you want access to your information in the future, you may want to keep your account open and simply unsubscribe from emails. How do I download my Learner Record?

All Alison courses are completely free to study and complete. After completing a course, you will be offered the choice to purchase a Certificate or Diploma. Paying for a certificate is completely optional. You can download your free Learner Record or Learner Verifications, which acts as proof of the courses you have completed on Alison. Your Learner Record includes all your completed and started courses. It also shows your Total Study Time for all these courses. Change Personal Information in Profile

At times, you may need to update the personal information in your Profile. You can access these settings at any time to update and confirm your information. When you graduate, the name on your certificate is exactly as it appears in your Profile. Avoid errors and additional costs down the track by checking you have the right spelling. It's important to double-check your name before you submit it, as you can only update it once every 3 months. It’s easy to change your personal details in your account. You can use the Alison website in different languages. To change the language, click on Language icon next to your profile icon, and choose your preferred language. What information can other users see on my profile?

All Alison learner Profiles are set to private by default. This means that your friends, family, or potential employers will not be able to find your Profile if they search for you. However, many Alison learners have chosen to make their Alison Profiles visible. You can too! It’s a great way to showcase your skills and achievements to recruiters worldwide. How can I redeem an Alison Gift Card?

I have more than one Alison account, how do I merge them?
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to merge two accounts.
We can delete one of your Alison accounts, but it’s important to note that if you choose to delete an account, any learning or achievements linked to it will be permanently deleted.
Alternatively, you can choose to keep both accounts and continue using them both.
What Is the Leaderboard?
The Alison Leaderboardis a fun and interactive feature that turns learning into a friendly competition! It ranks learners based on their XP (Experience Points), making your learning journey more engaging and motivating.
Anyone who earns XP is automatically included in the leaderboard. The more XP you gain by completing topics, courses, assessments, and other learning activities, the higher you’ll climb.
Key features of the Leaderboard:
- It’s XP-based only—the more you learn, the more XP you earn, and the higher your rank.
- You can filter the leaderboard by country to see how you rank in your region.
- The leaderboard is divided into 15 levels. Everyone starts at Level 1, and as you accumulate XP, you advance through the levels—top learners reach Level 15.
- It updates in real time—as soon as you earn XP, your position will update.
You can also view other learners’ profiles by clicking their names on the leaderboard. Just note that only public profiles are visible. To make your profile discoverable—whether for networking or to attract potential recruiters—make sure your profile visibility is set to public.
What is XP and How Does It Work on Alison?
XP, or Experience Points, is a feature on Alison that tracks your learning journey and reflects your progress and engagement on the platform. It’s a fun and motivating way to see how far you’ve come and celebrate your dedication.
You can earn XP by:
- Completing courses
- Finishing final assessments
- Claiming your certificates
- Participating in other learning activities on Alison
The more active you are, the more XP you’ll gain!
You can view your total XP by clicking on your profile icon at the top of the screen. To see how your XP is growing over time, head to your Achievementspage.
When you're in learning mode, you can activate a 2x XP boost, which doubles the XP you earn for a limited time. You can unlock this bonus once per day to supercharge your progress—there’s no cap on how much XP you can earn daily, so feel free to learn at your own pace.
Think of your XP as a collection of your best learning moments—each point a little badge of achievement. And don’t worry if you take a break—your XP will always be there, ready to pick up where you left off.
What Are Streaks on Alison?
A streak is the number of consecutive days you've been actively learning on Alison. It’s a simple yet powerful way to track your consistency and commitment across all courses.
To keep your streak going, just complete one topic in any Alison course each day. That’s it! Once you've completed a topic, it counts for that day—no need to do more to maintain the streak. You can check your streak on your Dashboard.
Here’s how streaks work:
- Your streak starts at zero and increases by one each day you complete a course topic.
- If you skip a day without completing a topic, your streak resets to zero.
If you miss a day, your streak resets to zero. However, if you've built up a streak of at least 3 days, you’ll have one free streak protection available. This means if you miss a day, your streak won’t break immediately—you’ll have a chance to keep it going. But if you miss two days in a row, the streak will break, even with protection.
Streaks are updated overnight, so if you finish a topic today, you’ll see the +1 update reflected the next day.
Your streak is private by default, but it's a great milestone to celebrate! You can choose to share your learning streak with others from your Dashboard if you’d like to show off your progress.
How Can I Turn Off Gamification on Alison?
We understand that not everyone learns the same way. If you prefer a more traditional learning experience without gamification elements like XP, leaderboards, and streaks, you can easily turn these features off.
You can disable it in your Account Settings by toggling off the Gamification option.
What changes when gamification is turned off?
- The Achievements Page and Leaderboard will no longer be visible.
- You won’t see Total XP or Learning Streak widgets on your dashboard.
- The XP counter will disappear from your profile dropdown.
- Your XP will no longer accumulate in the background.
You can switch gamification back on anytime if you change your mind!

How do I sign up for Alison?
Signing up with us is easy and can be done in a few short steps.
There are two ways to register an account on Alison: you could either use one of your social media accounts or use your email address. To ensure your account safety and security, please use the account type that best suits your needs and preferences.
When you create an Alison account using a social profile, you'll need to choose that same social account whenever you log in. This is done to keep your account secure and ensure that you always access it with the same account.
If you need to reset your password, you can do it directly on the website of the social account you used to sign up (Google, Facebook, etc.).
When you sign up, please double-check that your name is entered correctly. That's because we want to make sure that when you graduate, your certificate has your name spelled correctly. If you double-check your spelling now, you'll avoid errors – and the extra costs of making corrections later on!
If you use one of your social accounts to create your Alison account, the name associated with that social account will automatically be entered in your Alison account. You can change it to whatever you prefer, and you can find out how to do that right here.

Now that you've signed up and logged in, you're ready to start the course by selecting Start Learning.
Alison courses are designed to be self-paced and self-taught. The duration of your study is entirely your decision. Most certificate courses take 2-3 hours to complete and diploma courses take around 6-15 hours to complete.
I did not receive the confirmation email. How can I confirm my account and log in?
We understand it can be frustrating not to receive the confirmation email. This usually happens for one of the reasons listed below.
The email has been sent to your spam folder
Check your spam inbox. If you find the confirmation email from us, move it into your inbox and update the label on the email.
Your email service provider is blocking our emails
Check your inbox settings to see if Alison emails are being blocked or filtered. You’ll need to update the settings in your inbox in order to receive emails from us.
Your account was created via a social account
If you create an account using a social media platform, your Alison account will be automatically verified without requiring a confirmation email.
You may have accidentally entered your email address incorrectly
If you entered the wrong email address, please re-register with the correct one.
If none of the above applies, you can still have your account confirmed. Simply send us a blank email with Confirm in the subject line.

Login trouble: why can't I log in to Alison?
We understand that login issues can be frustrating. In most cases, this happens for one of the reasons listed below.
You have an unconfirmed account
In order for your account to be fully activated, you need to confirm your email address. Check your inbox for a confirmation email from us and click on the link in the email. This will activate your account and you’ll be able to login again.
You did not receive a confirmation email
If you didn’t receive a confirmation email or you cannot find one in your inbox, then we’ll have to confirm your account manually. Simply send us a blank email with the subject Confirm.
Your password is incorrect
When you login, you may notice an error message that your password is incorrect. Try entering again. Remember that passwords are case-sensitive, so check that your “CAPS LOCK” is turned off and you are entering it correctly.
Forgotten Password
If you have forgotten your password, you’ll need to select a new one. Here’s a step-by-step guide to reset your password.
Multiple accounts
You have more than one account with Alison. Check that you enter the correct email address and password to login to the correct account. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to remove an unused account.
Social account
If you created your Alison account using your social media account, you’ll need to choose the relevant social media link on the left side of the login page. If you still have login issues, you may need to reset your password on the social media platform’s website.
These credentials do not match our records
This message usually appears when the email address or password entered does not match the details we have on file. Please double-check that there are no typos and that your password is entered correctly (passwords are case-sensitive).
If you signed up using a social media account (such as Google or Facebook), make sure you are logging in using the corresponding social login option.
In some cases, this can also happen if you have more than one Alison account registered with different email addresses. Ensure you are using the correct email linked to your account. If you’re still unable to log in, please contact us and we’ll be happy to look into this for you.
Account was registered via one of our partners
If you created your account through a partner website, you will need to log in via that portal. You do have the option of logging in directly on Alison. You can use the reset password feature here: reset password. If you'd like to discontinue sharing data with the partner organisation, you'll need to do so right here at this step.

If you have attempted to reset your password but haven’t received the reset password email, here are a few reasons why:
The email may be in your spam folder.
Look through your spam folder for an email from Alison. If you find it in your spam folder, simply move it back to your inbox and then follow the instructions in the email.
You may have accidentally entered an incorrect email address.
Try signing up again using the correct email address.
Your email service provider may be blocking Alison emails.
Some email service providers automatically block certain emails. Update your inbox settings to allow emails from Alison. If you have an email filtration system, such as Boxbe, you may need to update this too.
Social account.
If you created your account using a social media platform, you’ll need to reset your password on the social media platform’s website.

How do I delete my Alison Account?
It’s important to know that if you delete your Alison account, all information linked to it will be permanently deleted. This includes your study progress and the orders you've placed.
Please note that once your account is deleted, it is not possible to recover any data from it. If you want access to your information in the future, you may want to keep your account open and simply unsubscribe from emails.

Go to the Completed Courses section in your Dashboard and click Add to Profile below the course you want to add. Please see the following screenshot:
This will open your LinkedIn profile, where a form with pre-populated certificate details will appear.
Some useful information:
Name = Name of course
Issuing Organization = Alison - Free Online Learning
Time period: From = The date you completed the course. Please note Alison certificates do not expire
Credential ID = Cert No. (as shown in Learner Achievement Verification)
Credential URL = URL as shown in the address bar of your Learner Achievement Verification
I access Alison via my Mobile Browser

How do I download my Learner Record?
All Alison courses are completely free to study and complete.
After completing a course, you will be offered the choice to purchase a Certificate or Diploma. Paying for a certificate is completely optional. You can download your free Learner Record or Learner Verifications, which acts as proof of the courses you have completed on Alison.
Your Learner Record includes all your completed and started courses. It also shows your Total Study Time for all these courses.
Learner Verifications is the document that shows the stats for chosen courses only.

To download your Learner Record, simply go to Settings and click Download in the Learner Record box, as per the screenshot below:
To download your free Learner Achievement Verification for a specific course, please choose the Learner Verification widget:
Find the course and click on the green Learner Verification button:

We apologise that this feature is not yet available in the App. However, we are doing everything we can to bring it to you as soon as possible. For now, you can make your Alison Profile visible by logging into your account via a web browser.
Change Personal Information in Profile
At times, you may need to update the personal information in your Profile. You can access these settings at any time to update and confirm your information.
When you graduate, the name on your certificate is exactly as it appears in your Profile. Avoid errors and additional costs down the track by checking you have the right spelling.
It's important to double-check your name before you submit it, as you can only update it once every 3 months.
It’s easy to change your personal details in your account. Here’s how:

How do I add or change my profile picture?
Adding or changing your profile picture is an easy process and can be done in a few steps.
I access Alison via my computer:
Login to your Alison account and go to your Dashboard.
Click on your profile photo icon and select Change Photo as shown in the screenshot below.
Find the image you want to use as your profile picture and select Open. The image will be automatically updated in your Profile.

Look for your name at the top of the page, and click on the pen icon as shown in the screenshot below.

How to change the language on Alison?
You can use the Alison website in different languages. To change the language, click on Language icon next to your profile icon, and choose your preferred language.
The Alison App is available in English only. We will definitely try to incorporate new languages during the next phases of the app development.
What information can other users see on my profile?
All Alison learner Profiles are set to private by default. This means that your friends, family, or potential employers will not be able to find your Profile if they search for you.
However, many Alison learners have chosen to make their Alison Profiles visible. You can too! It’s a great way to showcase your skills and achievements to recruiters worldwide.

To change your Profile settings, simply login to your Alison account and go to your Profile. Toggle the button in the Public Profile box to make it either private or public, as shown in the screenshot below.
