Description

This course will begin by introducing you to the factors affecting the world’s population growth. You will first explore the increase in global consumption, waste production, and how to measure this to sustain the earth’s natural resources. This will lead you to the earth’s natural system science and the interactions among the biosphere, atmosphere, and energy systems. Next, you will gain knowledge on the impact of the biosphere on the environment and the four important threads for change to reduce the impact of technology on the environment. 

This free online course will further expose you to the technology paradigm as a resource in an economic system that drives material flow through the techno-process. You will be knowledgeable about the meaning of environmental sustainability and sustainable development. This will lead you into the major roles materials play in building and the importance of using green materials in building instead of conventional materials. 

Lastly, you will learn about the energy in building, how to calculate the ecological footprint and raw materials used for cement production. You will further gain an understanding of the raw materials used in cement production and the quantity needed for these materials during production.
