At Midwest Dairy, a significant amount of our work includes collaborating with external partners and vendors. Having signed agreements in place, be it formal contracts or less informal Letters of Agreements (LOAs), helps ensure that everyone is on the same page, and helps to remove any potential misunderstandings or confusion. It is important to recognize that all contracts are agreements, but not all agreements are considered contracts.
Agreements provide clarity on details such as:
• Who engages in the work, and when was the work agreed upon
• When does the work begin, and when does it end
• What deliverables are each party responsible for (and when are they due)
• Any specific requirements or guidelines that the work being done needs to adhere to
• What is the compensation for the work, and when should payment be expected
• Oftentimes, there is information around if pivots or cancellations can be made and how, as well as any action that might be taken if either party fails to uphold what they’ve agreed to
The course modules will provide training on organization’s approved templates, drafting agreements, the review and approval process, gaining and getting signatures, Midwest Dairy Contract Library, adding links to Dairy Connect and accounting software. In addition, training will discuss best practices in partner provided (external agreements) and making adjustments to final agreements to ensure compliance to standards.
This course is designed for new and existing employees of the organization; however, it can serve any employee who needs a refresher on contracts and agreements. Any specific questions on the process should be directed to the Shared Services Department. We understand that even after completing this course and modules, further questions or comments may be needed.
