A dot matrix display shows information on clocks, machines, train departure indicators, and other devices. The display consists of a dot matrix of mechanical indicators or lights organised in a rectangular arrangement (other forms are also feasible, although uncommon). Text or graphics can be shown by turning specific lights on or off. These displays are frequently created using thin-film transistors with LED, OLED, or LCD lighting. This course aims to learn wiring, installation and programming on a PIC Microcontroller to make a dot matrix LED display.
It starts by introducing hardware and software requirements for our project. Following that, you will understand a dot matrix's internal structure, dimensions, the most common types, and working principles that make only the particular LED glow. The course then explains how to interface and connect Dot Matrix to PIC and turn on a column. Next, you will learn about a multiplexing technique that allows letters, words or even phrases to be displayed.
Also, you can find out how to display a letter on a 5*7 matrix display. Also, writing a C program to display two letters and moving words on a 5*7 matrix display will be explained. The final section will cover downloading and installing Proteus Software, used to make electric circuit simulations and test your code. Empower yourself by gaining the skills needed for installation and programming on a PIC Microcontroller to make a dot matrix LED display.
