Description

This course will begin by introducing you to the meaning of a database and database management system. You will learn how you can store data, how to retrieve data, and most importantly, the different ways of storing data in the various databases that are available. You will also learn about the languages that are being used in order to manage this database or query data from the database. 

Next, you will be familiar with the different types of keys; including technical key, parent key, child key, and composite key. This will lead you to normalization in database management systems, data integrity constraints, and the reasons for normalization. You will further be introduced to the different models of the database management system, where you will be brought up to speed with the different aspects of how the database management system is handled. You will also learn about the types of databases, the pros, and cons of each database type.

Lastly, you will further your knowledge on how to create, maintain, and edit a database. You will assimilate the different types of databases, how the querying can be done, and how to address certain issues when creating a database. This will then enable you to grasp structured query language, spatial analysis, and basic editing in geographic information system. You will then gain an understanding of the procedures involved in integrated data analysis, and how to maintain logical consistency in creating a vector database.
