Description

In this course, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of animation using the toon boom harmony program which is programming software that allows animators to create art and designs in 2d animation. The course will focus on the bouncing ball animation project which consists of a simple basketball (circle) bouncing in and out of the frame. It will first bounce in the frame and then bounce a second time out of frame. This project is one of the most important exercises that animators first learn when they first start. It is important because it teaches you time and spacing, squash and stretch, and especially art. These are crucial because these principles are involved in most animations and they bring the animation to life. This course begins with the instructor introducing herself and her educational background. The course content and importance of the course to beginners or anyone interested in learning animation will be highlighted. Then, you will learn the principles of animation as well as the differences between timing and spacing in animation. This will be illustrated using the toon boom harmony program.

Next, you will study the setup of the bouncing ball animation project using the toon boom harmony program. The steps to follow when creating a new file or scene will be outlined. The drawing of the ground plane and path of action will also be covered in this section. You will also learn how to extend the exposure of horizon and path of action to the end of the timeline. Then, you will be taught how to draw the basketball and paste it into different frames. The procedures to rotate the program view to stretch the ball will be taught. Thereafter, the technique for animating the second arc of the bouncing ball, as well as how the ball should look like or be stretched after impact on the ground and during its peak will be explained. Additionally, finishing the last bounce of the ball and adding empty frames to the end of the timeline to clearly show the ball has left the frame will be considered.

Toward the end of the course, you will learn how to export your project from toon boom harmony to a movie format. The procedure would be sufficiently broken down and explained to your understanding.  How to add a background and changing the background colour or environment of the animation will be presented in this section. This course will focus on 2d animation and is exclusively for beginners or anyone interested in learning 2d animation. No prior knowledge of animation or any programming is required. Are you ready to begin your journey in animation? Then this course is for you! Register today and enjoy learning the basics of 2d animation.
