Tugende is a for-profit social enterprise formally established in 2012 in Uganda. With hundreds of full-time staff in multiple locations across Uganda and Kenya, their business continues to expand by introducing new products and services across new markets – all of which attract high-calibre talent.
Tugende helps entrepreneurial small businesses own income-generating assets, improve their livelihoods, and be financially included by building a digital credit profile. They use asset finance, technology, and a customer-centric model to help informal sector entrepreneurs (MSMEs) dramatically increase their economic trajectory.
Tugende’s proven model enables informal entrepreneurs in Africa to own their own income‑generating assets, build a verifiable digital credit profile, and unlock future opportunities, including discounts, smartphone access, e-commerce, and on-demand credit lines.
