Joseph Larsen is an engineer and designer based in Phoenix, Arizona in the United States. A graduate of the Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University, Larsen has spent the majority of his career working in the sectors of design, research and development. His areas of expertise in design include modeling and prototyping. He is currently working in design and product development in the area of diesel particulate filters for diesel trucks.
While studying engineering, Larsen was frustrated by how difficult it was to learn the existing design software, such as CAD modeling. After graduating and working in the field of engineering, he believed that he could leverage his training and expertise into a far more intuitive programme to teach students about 3D modelling.
To that end, he teamed up with Alison to produce his course, Introduction to Solidworks. It is an easy to follow and engaging introduction to sketching, modelling and both 2D and 3D design.
