This free online course explains the requirements for evaluating products' carbon footprints according to the ISO 14067.
Carbon footprint is the total measurement of the greenhouse gases, especially the carbon dioxide. These gases can be emitted across the production life cycle of a given product and contribute significantly to the dangers of global warming. ISO 14067 is a standard which deals with this issue and provides organizations with a comprehensive framework with which they can measure the environmental impact of their activities across a product’s life cycle and then take measures to reduce that impact.
With this course, course developers at Exoexcellence Consultants have aimed to make this standard easy to understand. They have designed this course such that it contains two modules, with each of them being divided into three topics each. The first module explains climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from different perspectives, especially in light of the ISO 14067 standard. The second module explains the two clauses, i.e. clauses 5 and 6 of the standard, along with their sub-clauses. Both these clauses contain the most crucial requirements of the standard, such as the definition of goal and scope, system boundary, data and its quality, and dealing with specific GHG emissions, etc.
The entire course is full of interesting graphics, videos, and illustrations, Two additional PDF resources have also been added to simplify the structure of the standard and explain its relation with other standards in its family. Overall, this course will be a great asset for students of environmental studies, as it will increase their knowledge regarding regulatory affairs in this field.
