Course Information

This course offers skills in project management, covering communication, leadership, and risk management effectively.

In this course, students will learn that the objective of project management is to produce a complete project that meets the client’s requirements and designs. In many cases, project management also involves shaping or refining the client’s brief to ensure feasibility within those requirements. Once established, the client’s needs should guide all decisions made by project managers, designers, contractors, and subcontractors, as poorly defined or overly rigid criteria can hinder effective decision-making.

A project is a temporary and unique endeavour designed to produce a specific product, service, or result. It has a clearly defined beginning and end, often constrained by time, budget, or staffing. Each project is undertaken to achieve specific goals and objectives that bring about beneficial change or added value. This makes project management an essential discipline for ensuring that limited resources are used efficiently to meet client expectations.

The temporary nature of projects contrasts with business-as-usual operations, which are ongoing or semi-permanent activities that deliver products or services on a regular basis. Managing and controlling these distinct types of work requires different technical skills and management strategies. Through this course, you will gain insight into how project management practices differ from routine operations and why these differences are critical to achieving successful outcomes. We have also included a simulated mini risk assessment and a safety audit.

Note: The training material featured in this course offers AI-assisted audio presented on each page to support individuals with Dyslexia and similar learning challenges. The basic training videos are tailored to assist learners who may struggle with visualising concepts as well as other related difficulties. (Demonstration purposes only)
