Course Information

This free online course will help you understand the fundamentals of green finance and ethical investment principles.

Applying social, governance, and environmental factors to investment choices is a component of green finance and ethical investing. Green finance is not charity. Ethical investments are expected to provide a financial return and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) benefits. This course's introduction to green finance and ethical investing will cover how to include sustainability standards in your investment appraisal procedure.

It starts by uncovering why green finance and ethical investment are needed, how finance drives climate change, and how they affect businesses. Following this, you will understand green finance and ethical investment, their main issues, and greenwashing. Institutions involved in green finance and ethical investment, the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, the United Nations Global Compact, and Eurosif will also be highlighted.

The following section will focus on International Standards for Green Finance, ISO and PAS standards. The course then describes the role of the International Sustainability Standards Board, IFRS S1 and S2, the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and the new European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). The challenges and steps involved in a route map for ethical investment appraisal will be explained. The final section represents a green finance and ethical investment exercise.
