Juan Sebastián Cuervo is an industrial engineer and development economist, certified as PMI project manager, in innovation by the Global Innovation Management Institute, as Scrum Master and in Six Sigma Green Belt. He was born in Bogotá, Colombia and has worked mostly in the humanitarian and development sectors in the areas of health, migration, and entrepreneurship. He has developed a career as a monitoring and evaluation specialist for international organizations such as Innovations for Poverty Action and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and as data analyst for NGOs and other private and public institutions seeking to increase their social or environmental impact.
Since 2016, Juan Sebastián has focused on promoting evidence-based learning and the development of social businesses and NGOs that seek to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Colombia through the power of social innovation and the measurement of impact. He has been a mentor in entrepreneurship and impact evaluation for several institutions that promote grassroots innovation or community development such as SociaLab Colombia, Sistema B, and Distancia Cero. He has also accompanied individuals and social leaders that seek to engage in entrepreneurship to foster the growth of vulnerable communities in Latin America and he has been a professor of social entrepreneurship, impact evaluation and data analysis in several universities.
Juan Sebastián continuously offers advice and consultancy services to professionals in the topics of implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems, data management and security, and data analysis or programming in different software such as Stata, R+, NVivo or in data collection software such as CommCare, Kobo Toolbox, Survey CTO, among others. He believes in the power of education and service to promote skill building and the continuous development of people who seek to make a better world and transform society.
