This history course explores the origins of the English royal establishment during the Dark and Middle Ages and describes the country’s transformation into a constitutional monarchy. We discuss the influence of the different royal dynasties on British society, culture and politics, including the Plantagenets, Tudors, Stuarts and Georgians before we move on to the Victorian Age. We analyse important historical conflicts such as the Norman Conquest and War of the Roses. We explain how the English Civil War, Glorious Revolution and the American Revolution affected the British Isles.
