Introduction to New Features of HTML5
Learn more about the new features of HTML5 for enhanced Web design and development with this course.
Description
This course begins by introducing you to vector graphics. You will learn that until recently, you really couldn't draw on the Web because the graphics then weren't very interactive and didn't interface very well with JavaScript. You will look into the different aspects of the Web like Flash, Silverlight, and VML which were early vector graphics language from Microsoft that people use with clever tricks in order to do some drawings on the Web.
You will then explore Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) which is a Web standard that predates HTML 5. With this course, you will learn that Canvas and SVG can fit into CSS and HTTP and we now have HTML-like tags that you can animate and interact with right inside of HTML. You will learn that the Canvas API is like a scriptable image tag that you can create to directly script and draw your own custom image, and more!
Having a good knowledge and understanding of HTML5 can take your web design and development skills to another level. After studying this course, you will have a greater understanding of the new features of HTML5 and their uses, Geolocation for identifying geo-position of users, Canvas and SVG for drawing on the Web, the use of app cache and database, and more!
