There are some jobs that you can just figure out as you go along. Caregiving is not one of them. When someone is in your care, it is your responsibility to ensure they are receiving the very best service from you. This can be the difference between the last few years of someone’s life being spent in peace or in discomfort, the difference between a disabled person living life to the full or held down by even more barriers. Effective caregiving makes a real difference to people’s lives.

All of this can be very difficult for the caregiver, so we’ve designed this free course to help you gain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective care more easily. The course begins by introducing you to the roles and responsibilities of working as a caregiver. You will study legal and ethical issues involved in caregiving, verbal and non-verbal communication strategies, how to observe people for signs and symptoms of illness, and the importance of reporting and documenting data. Very importantly, you will also learn how to manage your stress and your time more effectively.

Caregiving is not easy, and you should be proud that you are the kind of person who wants to do this right. This course is designed to give you all you need to do this job well and to maintain your own personal health while doing it. If you stick with the course for just 10 hours, you can gain the skills and knowledge you need to ensure years of caregiving that works well for both you and those in your care. It could be the small change that makes all the difference.

After completing this course you will be able to: - Discuss the fundamental roles and responsibilities of a care worker. - Define the various legal issues that a carer must consider when working with a client. - Describe how to identify, treat and prevent the spread of a range of medical conditions. - Discuss the correct actions to be taken in the event of a range of medical emergencies.
