An Introduction to Julia Programming Language

Julia is a relatively new programming language developed in 2009 and designed purposefully for academia and companies that use it primarily for numerical computing and data science. This course by Stone River uses an easy-to-follow format to help beginners easily understand the basic concepts. You can download all the codes used in this course from the ‘Resources’ section. 

We will begin by examining the broad features of Julia and its unique functionalities. You will learn how to download and install the program and run it on your computer system. Then we will discuss essential topics on declaring variables, functions and types. Since Julia is a dynamic language, you don't have to worry about declaring particular types when creating variables. Essentially, we explore the topics that help you become comfortable writing in the language.

The second part of the course investigates advanced topics beginning with File IO - how to read and write to files. Next, we will review metaprogramming details, which lets you inspect Julia so you can program, process and modify Julia's code. We will also delve into error and exception handling, allowing you to troubleshoot your code and deal with errors and various problem-solving scenarios.
