• Identify, clap, and play the beat or rhythm of any song back after listening to it
• Categorize beats as whole notes, half notes, quarter, eight and sixteen notes
• Distinguish between the different rhythmic notations
• Define ‘rest’ and the meaning of 1-bar and 2-bar rhythm measures
• Describe what syncopation of rhythms is and point out syncopated beats in a rhythm pattern
• Compute patterns with the quarter, eight and sixteenth notes in both slow and fast tempo
• Summarize the basic rhythm reading techniques
