This course begins by discussing the Safety Statement which is a legal requirement for all employers. You will study how health and safety within a company are managed and learn that it is based on the principle that safety can be managed because most accidents and ill-health are foreseeable and can usually be prevented. You will also learn that it is used to plan and control everything that is done in the workplace so that accidents don't occur.
You will then study the safe systems of work which is a procedure that aims to eliminate the risk involved in a work operation or at least to reduce the risk to an acceptable level. You will also look into safety consultation and learn about information, instruction, training, and supervision in the workplace. This course will also teach you how to properly conduct an investigation of accidents and report an incident.
Upon the completion of this course, you will be able to identify the components and describe the function of a safety statement, recognise the importance of safety consultation in the workplace, learn the value of information, instruction, training and workplace supervision, and outline the steps in an accident investigation.
