Description

This course begins by discussing slips, trips, and falls. These accidents are very common since hazards are present everywhere. By studying this course, you will learn that the most common slip, trip, and fall hazards are poor lighting, unsuitable floor coverings, trailing cables, uneven or damaged flooring, spills on the floor, and scattered objects. Knowing how they occur can help you come up with control measures to prevent accidents from happening.

You will then study manual handling and patient handling. Manual handling includes any lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving of a load which, by reason of its characteristics or unfavourable ergonomic conditions, involves risk, particularly of a back injury, to employees. With this course, you will learn manual handling risk assessment as well as the implementation of control measures. By putting them in place, you will be able to eliminate or reduce the chance of an injury from occurring.

Slips, trips, and falls may result in cuts, bruises, fractures, dislocations, and other serious injuries while improper manual handling may result in muscle pulls and strains, trapped nerves, hernias, and back pains. With this course, you will gain better insight into the different physical hazards so you can conduct a manual handling risk assessment and implement control measures to prevent them from happening.
