How can I pay for my Certificate?
There are a number of payment options you can use:
Credit/Debit Card: This isa quick and easy way to pay through the shopping cart in your Alison Account.
PayPal: You will be redirected to the PayPal website to confirm your payment (if PayPal is operational in your country).
ApplePay/GPay: Due to Apple and Google requirements, this is the only option for Digital product purchases via the Alison App.
Bank Transfer: Choose I do not have a card or Paypal and reserve the order. You will see bank details for payment on the order confirmation page. We will also send these to you by email.
We can help you more quickly if you email your payment receipt to [email protected]. That way, we can take care of it right away.
Does Alison offer financial aid to purchase a certificate?
As you may know, Alison is one of the world’s largest free online empowerment and learning platforms for education and skills training. We’re committed to making it possible for anyone to study anything, anywhere, anytime... And, because all learning on Alison is free we don’t offer financial aid.
You can download your free Learner Record showing the courses you have completed with Alison directly from your Dashboard. Learners can choose to pay for a Certificate, but this is completely optional.
We also have a Refer A Friend programme where you can earn discounts on digital Certificates and Diplomas by referring your friends and family to Alison. Find out more here.
Why do I have to pay for the Certificate if it was a free course?
We’re sorry to hear that you weren’t aware that there was a fee for receiving a Certificate. Just to clarify, you can learn and certify, for free, across any of our 4000+ courses. After you complete your course, you can download your Learner Record as proof of your achievement and you can add your Certificate to your LinkedIn profile.
We offer Learners the option to purchase a digital or printed Certificate but they are under no obligation to do so.
As a social enterprise, Alison’s goal is to make education as accessible as possible, which is why we offer our courses free of charge. But, we have to build a sustainable business so we earn revenue via advertising and optional paid Certificates.

How to apply discount or voucher code?
You can use your discount or voucher code when you purchase a Certificate or Diploma.
Simply go to the Alison Shop and choose the type of Certificate you want. When you are ready, select the option Apply Voucher (as illustrated in this screenshot).
You will see a popup screen with the discounts you qualify for. Simply choose the relevant discount. Or, if you have a Discount Code, add it to the designed field, as shown in this screenshot:
Once your Code has been successfully added, the discount will be shown in your order.
Simply go to the Alison Shop and choose the type of Certificate you want. When you are ready, select the option Apply voucher (as illustrated in this screenshot).

Once your Code has been successfully added, the discount will be shown in your order.
We apologise for the inconvenience, but Apple and Google restrictions prohibit the use of vouchers within apps. To use available discount vouchers, please use a browser instead.
My payment was cancelled/declined. Why?
When you pay with your Credit or Debit Card, your bank may decline or cancel the payment for a variety of reasons. Please contact your bank for help. Once the issue is fixed, you can try to place the order again.
What is the Card Verification Code (CVC)?
The Card Verification Code, or CVC*, is an extra code printed on your debit or credit card. With most cards (Visa, MasterCard, bank cards, etc.) it's the last three digits printed on the back of your card, in the signature strip. On American Express (AMEX) cards, it is usually a four-digit code on the front.
As the CVC is not embossed (unlike the card number), it is not printed on any receipts and therefore unlikely to be known by anyone other than the card owner. When you enter your credit card details to make a purchase with us, we ask you to fill out the CVC for security reasons. All information you submit is transferred over secure SSL connections.
* The name of this code differs between card companies. You may also know it as the Card Verification Value (CVV), the Card Security Code or the Personal Security Code.
How do I purchase my Certificate?
All learning on Alison is free. After you successfully complete a course, you are given the option to purchase a digital or printed Certificate to prove your achievement.
Purchasing a Certificate is simple.
Step 1. Check your name on the Certificate
Start by going to the Shop and checking your name on the Certificate.
Please double-check that your name is spelled correctly. If you double-check your spelling now, you'll avoid errors – and the extra costs of making corrections later on!
Just click on the Edit Name button to check and update your name:
Correct name and click Update:
Step 2. Choose the Course
You will see a screen showing all your available Certificates. Select the course you want to purchase a Certificate for.

Digital Certificate or Digital Diploma:
ApplePay/GPay: Due to Apple and Google requirements, this is the only option for Digital product purchases via the App.
If you don't have an ApplePay or GPay account, no worries! You can still purchase your Digital Certificate or Diploma. Just switch to the browser version and you'll be able to use other payment methods.
Printed or Framed Certificates:
Credit/Debit Card: This is a quick and easy way to pay through the shopping cart in your Alison Account.
PayPal: You will be redirected to the PayPal website to confirm your payment (if PayPal is operational in your country).
When you place an order for a printed or framed Certificate, please include your complete delivery address. Doing this will help us get your order to you in time. For optimal delivery, we recommend that you also provide a PO Box or Postcode.
