Monitoring and Managing Your Services, Apps and Infrastructure
In this topic you will be introduced to the important activities that need to be performed to monitor and manage existing services, applications and infrastructure. There are a number of activities that are essential in managing existing services, applications and infrastructure you need visibility of the performance, uptime and overall health of where the applications and other internet accessible services running on your cloud environment. This includes gathering matrix, events, and meta data for applicable application platforms and components. You need to search, filter, and view logs from your cloud and open source applications. Application errors should be reported and aggregated as alerts, latency management is an important part of managing the overall application performance. It’s important to be able to answer questions like, how long does it take my application to handle a request or why do some of my requests take longer than others or whats the overall latency of all requests to my application. In the event that a bug does exist and we know that never happens you need to inspect the state of your running applications in real time to investigate your code’s behavior and determine the cause of the problem.
