This English speaking course is the eighth in a series of thirteen ‘Beginner English’ courses designed to help you master this global language at a basic level. Together, the courses cover all the basic pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary needed to give you the confidence to develop your English skills. We use audio and video files to guide you and enhance your learning experience.
The course explains how to link the consonant ‘s’ to vowel sounds in verbs, plural nouns, possessive nouns and contractions. We show you how the voiceless ‘s’ combines with vowel sounds and compare it to the voiced ‘z’, followed by the combinations of ‘s’, ‘z’, ‘sh’, ‘zh’, ‘ch’, ‘j’ and ‘iz’ with vowels. We then contrast voiced and unvoiced consonants. The course demonstrates when to use ‘there is’ and ‘there are’ and teaches you how to ask and answer questions using ‘how many’.
Finally, we show you how to apply the ‘prepositions of place’: ‘in’, ‘at’ and ‘on’. The course lays out vocabulary relating to household objects and rooms to let you describe locations like bathrooms and living rooms as you discuss common household objects like appliances and tools. This course forms part of a series that can help you master the basics of English and boost your confidence.
