Alison Marks Successful Conclusion of ‘On The Money’ Pilot as 30 Irish Credit Unions Join as Financial Literacy Ambassadors

Thursday, 1st October 2026

GALWAY, IRELAND - 2026-10-01

Galway-based EdTech social enterprise Alison has officially concluded the pilot phase of On The Money (OTM): The Irish Financial Literacy Education Initiative. Launched to address critical gaps in financial capability, the pilot programme now boasts 30 Credit Union partners serving as official OTM Ambassadors across the country.

The OTM initiative equips these trusted community institutions with a dedicated series of free, CPD-accredited digital courses tailored specifically to Irish financial systems:

  • Phishing and Scams

  • Credit and Debt Management

  • Personal Budgeting and Cash Management

  • Saving, Investing and Financial Goal Setting

Throughout the pilot, OTM Ambassadors actively leveraged the platform to deliver hybrid learning within their local regions. Credit Union teams are visiting local classrooms, leading community financial workshops, and collaborating with local authorities to deliver always-on financial education at the point of need.

The initiative has generated strong engagement across civic and educational sectors, receiving formal expressions of interest from over 50 charities and local authorities, as well as more than 100 schools nationwide. School guidance counsellors, Business Studies teachers, and Transition Year (TY) / Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) coordinators have welcomed the interactive platform, noting it provides high-quality resources for an essential life skill that has historically been under-resourced in standard curricula.

Olivia Cosgrove, Head of Government Solutions, Social Impact & Strategic Projects at Alison, commented:

"The incredible response to the On The Money pilot demonstrates just how urgent the demand for practical, accessible financial education is across Ireland. Credit Unions are the bedrock of financial trust in our communities. By combining their local reach with Alison’s digital learning infrastructure, we are helping educators, local authorities, and families build real-world financial confidence.

“As we wrap up this successful pilot phase, our priority is to secure the necessary funding to expand our course catalogue and translate the entire curriculum into Irish, ensuring these vital resources are accessible to every community nationwide."

Supported by the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU), participating institutions driving the initiative nationwide include Donore Credit Union, Naomh Breandan Credit Union, St Paul's Garda Credit Union, St Canices Credit Union, Mallow Credit Union, Inishowen Credit Union, Cara Credit Union, Claddagh Credit Union, Killarney Credit Union, Life Credit Union, Kilrush Credit Union, Ballinascreen Credit Union, Derg Credit Union, Larkhill & District Credit Union, Cahir Credit Union, Dunboyne Credit Union, Member First Credit Union, Health Services Staffs Credit Union (HSSCU), First South Credit Union, St Ailbe's Credit Union, St Agnes Credit Union, Bantry Credit Union, West-Midlands Credit Union, Donegal Town Credit Union, Tower Credit Union, Palmerstown Credit Union, and Premier Credit Union.
