Health Educators

What do Health Educators do? Health Educators teach and educate people about good health practices. They implement various educational activities and programs to help people make such practices a part of their lifestyle.

In this role, you typically focus on a specific area or community, such as the patients at a medical facility, the students at a school, or the people living within a specific area. You directly interact with the people in the target community and identify their health needs and concerns.

Using the relevant data, you then design health programs. Such programs comprise of activities such as educational events, distribution of educational material and interviews with the target population.

Community Health Consultant - A Community Health Consultant is someone who aids health agencies in implementing educational and awareness health programs within a certain community. Such a consultant acts as a liaison between the agency and the community.

Public Health Educator - A Public Health Educator develops and implements health education programs for a focus group or community. In doing so, the educator helps the members of the focus community gain awareness about healthy lifestyle habits.

How do people become Health Educators? The basic requirement for a career as Health Educators is to have a background in Psychology, Biology, Sociology, Social Work, Communications, Public Health, Business Management and Administration, or a related field.
