Where can I find my existing Learning Paths?
Admin: Log in to your LMS Admin dashboard and open Learning Paths from the left navigation. This page lists all premade and custom Learning Paths, with options to view, edit, assign or duplicate each path.
Assigned learning: To see which learners have been assigned a path, open the Learning Path and view the Assignments or Assigned learners tab.
Learner view: Learners find assigned Learning Paths on their Learner Dashboard under Assigned Learning > Learning Paths.
Reports: Use the Admin Reports section to find aggregated Learning Path analytics and exportable learner records.
What happens if I unassign a Learning Path when my learners have already started it?
If learners have started but not completed the Learning Path, unassigning will remove the assignment from their dashboard. The progress they made up to that point remains recorded in their learner record and in exported reports, but they will no longer see the active assignment.
If learners have completed courses or received certificates, you will not be able to unassign those completed assignments (the LMS prevents unassignment once completion/certificate allocation has occurred)
If you want learners to continue with the same content after an unassign, you can reassign the Learning Path
How do I unassign a Learning Path?
Open the Learning Path, click the assign button and then click unassign or go to the Team Members page and locate the learners you want to unassign
Confirm the unassignment.
Important restrictions: You cannot un-assign a Learning Path (or course) that has already been completed or that has had its certificate allocated. If completion or certificate allocation has taken place, the platform typically prevents unassignment to preserve records.
What analytics and reporting is available for Learning Paths?
Admins can track Learning Path performance using the LMS reporting tools. Typical reports and metrics include:
Learner progress: who has started and percentage complete per learner
Completion rates: number and percentage of learners who have completed the full Learning Path.
Course-level status: completion for individual courses inside the Learning Path.
Due dates & overdue: learners who are on time or overdue against assigned deadlines.
Certificates & allocations: which learners have been allocated certificates and the status of claims
How do I assign an existing Learning Path to new learners?
Open the Learning Path and click Assign.
Select the new learners (or group), set the deadline and confirm.
The new learners will receive assignment emails and the path will appear on their Learner dashboard.
Can I edit a Learning Path?
Yes , you can edit a Learning Path’s title, description, courses, order and associated skills. Keep in mind:
Edits made before assignment are safe and do not affect data.
Edits made after assignment will change reporting for that assignment but do not erase or change learners’ already-recorded course progress.
How do I assign a Learning Path to a Group?
(If your organisation is on LMS+ and uses Groups)
From the Admin dashboard go to ManageTeams > Groups.
Create a group first or select the Group you want to assign the Learning Path to.
Click Assign Learning Path (or use the Group Actions tab).
Choose the Learning Path, set deadlines and confirm.
Notes
If you are on the Free LMS (not LMS+), group assignment is not available
How do I assign a Learning Path to an individual?
Open the Learning Path and click Assign.
Choose Individual (or search the Team Members/People list).
Select the learner(s) you want and set the deadline / due date.
Confirm Assign.
How do I create my own Learning Path?
Steps (Admin):
Go to Learning Paths in the LMS Admin dashboard.
Click Create Learning Path (or New Learning Path).
Enter a name, summary/description and any skills or tags you want associated with the path.
Add courses: search the course library and add the courses in the desired order. You can reorder modules.
Set assignment settings (suggested due dates, recommended duration) if available.
Save the Learning Path. You can now assign it to individuals, groups or the organisation.
How do my learners receive a Learning Path assignment?
When you assign a Learning Path, assigned learners receive an automated email informing them of the new assignment
The Learning Path appears in the learner’s Learner Dashboard under assigned learning.
If the learner is still in Invited status (has not activated their account), they must locate the activation link in their inbox first; until they activate, they cannot access the assigned learning.
How do I edit a premade Learning Path?
Before assignment:
Open the Learning Path from Learning Paths → [path name] → Edit. You can typically change the name, description, add/remove courses, reorder items and update the skills or due dates.
After assignment:
You can still edit the Learning Path, but be aware: edits made after assignment will affect reports (they change what is reported for that assignment) but they do not retroactively change a learner’s existing course progress (completed modules remain completed).
How do I assign a premade Learning Path?
Steps (Admin):
Go to your LMS Admin dashboard and open Learning Paths in the left navigation.
Browse or search the catalogue for the premade Learning Path you want.
Click the Learning Path to open details.
Click Assign (or Assign Learning Path).
Choose recipients: individual learners, a group (LMS+), or the whole organisation.
Set the assignment options due date or deadline, and confirm Assign.
Notes
Invited learners who haven’t activated their accounts will receive an activation link and cannot access the assignment until they activate.
Learners will receive email notifications and the assignment will appear in their Learner dashboard.
What is a premade Learning Path?
A premade Learning Path is a ready-to-use path created by Alison’s content team. These paths are curated collections of existing Alison courses, packaged to meet common training goals (for example, Leadership Fundamentals, Onboarding, or Digital Skills). Premade paths let you assign proven, off-the-shelf training without building content from scratch.
What is a Learning Path?
A Learning Path is a curated, structured sequence of courses designed to teach a skill or topic in a recommended order. Learning Paths guide learners through multiple courses so they can progress from foundational content to more advanced topics. Admins use Learning Paths to assign progressive, measurable training to individuals, groups or whole organisations.
Key points
Learning Paths are designed for systematic learning (multiple courses, recommended order).
They can include metadata such as a name, description, skills, and due dates.
Learning Paths are assigned and tracked from the Admin (LMS) dashboard; learners see them on their Learner dashboard.
