Energy is defined as per clause 3.5.1 as "electricity, fuels, steam, heat, compressed air and other similar media".
Some of the examples are fuels, steam, heat, electricity, compressed air and other similar media.
It is important to note here that for the implementation of this standard, energy refers to the numerous types of energy, including renewable, which can be procured, stored, treated, used in equipment or in a process, or recovered.
Energy Consumption
Energy consumption is defined as per clause 3.5.2 as "quantity of energy applied".
Energy efficiency
Energy efficiency is defined as per clause 3.5.3 as "ratio or other quantitative relationship between outputs of performance, service, goods, commodities, or energy, and an input of energy."
Example of energy-efficiency is conversion efficiency; the energy required divided by the energy consumed. It is important to note here that both input and output should be clearly specified in terms of quantity and quality and be measurable.
