Module 1: Fundamentals of Energy Management System (EnMS)

What is meant by the Energy Management System (EnMS)?
Energy Management System (EnMS) is often interpreted differently. Some professionals consider an energy data analysis system or a building energy management system for equipment operational efficiency as EnMS which is not the case. The energy data analysis system or the building energy management system can be a part of an overall Energy Management System but it is not an energy management system on its own. The term energy management is a wider term that encompasses BEMS, EMIS and lot of other management elements within it.
 
BEMS
 
The building energy management system is often referred to as BMS/BEMS. 
 
EMIS
 
The analysis and monitoring system for energy is known as Energy Management Information System (EMIS). 
 
EnMS
 
EnMS is a management system that empowers organizations to plan, review, improve, and identify for the energy consumption patterns in an organization.
