Organizational Capacity for Change

Tools and Processes

Module Summary

In this module you studied the following:

Tools that assist the implementation of change at a personal level include the T.O.T.E. Model and the Circle of Creativity.

The T.O.T.E. Model is a model of problem solving through feedback loops.

The Circle of Creativity is based on the idea that we can separate any planning process into three stages – the DREAMER, the REALIST and the CRITIC.

Tools that assist the implementation of change in teams include the wheel of multiple perspectives and the feedback exercise.

The Wheel of Multiple Perspectives allows you to examine a project from a range of different perspectives.

Through providing honest feedback on a project, the efficiency of that project is greatly assisted.

Tools that assist the implementation of change in large systems include the SWOT analysis and the five whys.

Throughout the course of a SWOT Analysis, the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats faced by an organization should be openly and honestly discussed.

The five whys exercise allows an organization to dig deeper into an issue and uncover factors that may have gone unconsidered.
