    is this another way of factorisation for cubic equation?

    the gradient of 2 in the 1st table of the second example is pretty confusing, in my calculation its supposed to be 8 ,that is the cube of 2,how come its 12? also, the first vallue in the gradient is supposed to be -3, how come its 3? m confused
