    Everyone says it is so easy, but I am in the first lesson and I am already lost. I don't quite get the sounds of the vowels, and that is supposed to be the easy thing I guess.

    This is pretty cool, although I am aware of how to use pinyin, this is the way the student in my Chinese class learnt it. This is definitely the foundation.
