Many have become too dependant on the pills given, this might be half the problem. Up the dose or give them another brand. Doesn't improve their lives walking around like zombies.

Resistance to institutions seems merited. There was a fear of being locked up and taken to a horrible place where they would humiliate and torture you.

First you admit you might have a mental illness or a problem and then everyone back in the dark ages always wanted to lock you up in an insane asylum. Thank God treatment for mental health has progressed and evolved a little more. Still if you cannot seem to get a grip on your own thoughts and delusions, if indeed those are delusions, they still think you need to be shut in a behavioral health center. What is the difference? How do you keep many of the doctors who have a deal with the pharmaceutical companies from grossly over-medication?

How do you determine the fine line between what actually is a permanent mental handicap and that which is only more rather a treatable temporary mental illness? Do you suppose that is where over-medication falls into play?
