I stopped reading at the summary of character education. If the whole course is like the first bit it should be renamed to ethical development, as it appears to be about society's expectations and rules (in other words a written code). That is ethics but certainly NOT morals.

This is a very important module which should be implemented in the school curriculum to guide and help all children.

Do we observe, or are we aware of our "moral development" ?

At first thought, of what use is character education when teachers barely have time to complete the curriculum? But at the end of the section, I realised the need to reiterate the importance of respect, consideration, honesty and non-punitive conflict resolution in the school system as a whole. It was very informative indeed. I will definitely be implementing character education in my home. Providing a bit more reading material on strategies will be highly appreciated.

I believe that moral, character and everything related to human behaviour and social skills must be "teach" by exambles and with talk, using real life experiences and situations to deal with this. We have to follow a schedule and curriculum, but as we know parents (the majority of them) do not have time to talk to their children about certain things.

If we look at morality of justice, then teach that no one should lose and that everyone is always a winner do we lose the affect of teacher justice and how to have for eg. good sportsmanship conduct? Caring and being responsive to each other would provide the teaching of how to respond to your own loss or the gain of others, and perhaps provide motivation to reach a higher goal. I am lost with how rewarding all the same would teach the moral and ethical behaviors and mentality.
