The human skeletal system is truly amazing. It provides support as well as protection, it is also involved in the production of blood cells. It also enables motion and locomotion. It is made up of long bones, flat bones and irregular bones. It also has several types of connective tissues e.g cartilage, marrow, blood and nerves. The piezoelectric effects aid in the healing of damaged bones. Bones cells are called osteocytes. When building bones these cells are known as osteoblast and when tearing down bone they are calles osteoclasts.
