The general functions of the skeleton are:
Support. In general, the skeleton supports the body.
Motion and Locomotion. Because of the joints and the attached skeletal
muscles, the parts of the body can move with respect to each other (motion).
Also, because of such linkages in the lower members, the entire body can be moved from
place to place (locomotion).
Protection. Certain parts of the skeleton are structured to protect vital
