    First, I will do a thorough needs analysis in order to learn more about the learner's psychology and learning needs so that no content goes "over the head". Next, taking into consideration the fact that learners are likely to retain new information if it appeals to them personally or reminds them of prior experiences, I shall incorporate Gagne's Levels of Learning as well as the ARCS model into my course.

    I would present the same information in a variety of ways and I would make sure new knowledge is based on a foundation of old knowledge. It might also help to gauge their own confidence in the material, like how confident they are that they know something/remember something.

    This makes perfect sense with regards to "information overload" and why retaining information can be difficult for some adult learners. Clarity of content and providing real life examples that help reinforce applicability of what has been learned helps in providing a positive learning experience.

    Creating interactive material that engages multiple senses can foster knowledge retention. As well, chunking material into manageable parts--for example--no hour-long training videos, but rather making a series of the steps involved in the process.

    If learning is exhibited by cognitive behaviour, strategies of how memory is employed in learning becomes very crucial. Going by the cognitive process or parts of the memory and the role brains parts play, lesson strategies must be organised in such a way it becomes receptive and not confusing to the learner. This may include how much information is given per period, how it relates to previous lessons and rationale of the lesson. Nemonmics can help especially at the lower level of blooms taxonomy.

    Some of the strategies that will ensure retention of course material are as follows: - Learning checkpoint questions or a quiz - Scenario or Role-play discussion that requires the learner's to apply skills learned to solve a common problem - A follow-up assignment that requires learners to apply skills learned on a real-life scenario at their workplace.

    Understanding that the more senses you utilize during the training the more engaged an individual will be and a greater amount of content will be retained.
