Physical Education - Maximal changes
* Your VO2 max. can increase anywhere between 5-25% with training (8-10
week program). However, the "law of diminishing returns" applies here. The
fitter you get, the smaller the increases and the longer you have to train
in order to achieve those gains. Genetics plays a much greater role in
determining what your VO2 max. will be.
* because your maximal heart rate  changes are minimal, increases in
cardiac output are largely due to increases in stroke volume
* larger quantities of lactic acid  can be produced at maximal
intensity - this is because the body's increased ability to tolerate higher
levels of lactate in the blood
Trying to remember all these things is not an easy task. To try and
simplify things, try to think in terms of aerobic and anaerobic. In other
words, is oxygen involved or not?
