Frequency - How often should you exercise? If you want to stay fit and healthy you should exercise at least twice a week. You also need to make sure if you are training hard, you get enough rest Frequency Frequency is the number of training sessions completed each week. In order to achieve a training effect, one must train a minimum of: 2 times/week to maintain levels 3 times/week to improve levels Generally you need a minimum of 24-48 hours to recover from each training session, however, as fitness levels increase, the frequency can be increased. Many elite athletes will train anything between 10 and 14+ sessions per week. They can do this because their fitness levels are such that they are able to recover over shorter periods of time.
