Fats are only used when carbohydrates is depleted. Fats, in the form of triglycerides are stored throughout the body in fat cells (adipose tissue) and in the muscle. When the body burns fat, the triglycerides have to get converted down to "free fatty acids" and are transported to the working muscles in the bloodstream. high fat intake can lead to diseases but you need more energy as the longer an activity takes the more energy needed.

The conversion of food to energy: fats:- Fats, in the form of triglycerides are stored throughout the body in fat cells (adipose tissue) and in the muscle. When the body burns fat, the triglycerides have to get converted down to "free fatty acids" (FFAs). FFAs and TGs are transported to the working muscles in the bloodstream. In everyday activity, fats provide approximately 50% of the total energy. A high-fat diet, even for an athlete, is bad, as it leads to obesity, cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis.
