Land as a commodity:- In a society driven mainly by money it is easy to see how perceptions can affect the conflict surrounding land use. There are numerous examples of the debate that rages between using land for monetary gain or for conservation. Issues relating to land rites, mining in National Parks, developing skiing resorts, building chemical waste dumps on wetlands, building large hotels and huts in areas of natural wilderness, and the extinguishment of native title, all fundamentally relate back to the perception people have of the land.
