to make changes to their food choices: motivation
Change will be most effective when there is motivation to change. Patients
who have suffered a heart attack know that change is necessary to live. A
pregnant woman determined to give birth to a healthy infant will also feel
motivated. Those wanting to lose weight for a special social occasion are
likely to lose motivation after the event. Changes of this type are not
associated with long-term commitment.
