Pie charts are used in newspaper and magazine articles to illustrate some
data about the surveyed situation, in such a way that the data is labelled
as a percentage of a complete circle. Often, you use a pie chart format
when you are interested in each piece of data as a percentage of the whole
collection, as well as comparing the data values.
Pie charts are sometimes used to show data like the percentages of a group
of teenagers who have seen different movies in the last three weeks; or the
favourite sports or programs watched on TV; or the market share in
percentage terms for particular products; or the data about what activities
students do each day; or the percentages for social data such as the
population of London and the other cities compared to the total population
