Algebra - Verifying the simplification using a spreadsheet
Verifying the simplification using a spreadsheet
Sometimes we cannot always use algebra blocks to represent each term. The
second method of verifying that the expressions mean the same or are
equivalent was to substitute values (e.g. 1 or 2) for the variables.
Sometimes however the process of substituting lots of values into complex
algebraic expressions can be very tedious, and sometimes leads to simple
arithmetic mistakes. Spreadsheets provide the opportunity to check complex
algebraic expressions with many different numeric values.
Instructions for using spreadsheets to verify simplifications of algebraic
expressions, may be printed by clicking here.
